ROBIN PACIFIC Toronto-based artist, writer and activist Robin Pacific has a diverse practice. Her work includes community art, cultural animation and mapping, painting, multimedia, public art, and computer games. She has made a significant contribution to the practice of community art through her many projects, critical writing and public presence. In 1992 she co-founded Art Starts in Toronto. One of her best known community art projects, Uniform, was developed in collaboration with nineteen AGO Protection Services Officers and was exhibited throughout the Art Gallery of Ontario. Curious about the stories that exist "behind the uniform," Robin Pacific extended an invitation to all Protection Services Officers (PSOs) to share their histories and their reflections about the Art Gallery of Ontario. Nineteen guards accepted. She is currently completing a portrait project of 80 participants whom she drew, painted and videotaped talking about loss. Artist website: www.robinpacific.ca |
