December: Intro to Embroidery

Jessica will guide y'all through the steps of starting your own embroidery piece but after sharing some of the embroidery artists that have inspired them.
Materials needed:

  • embroidery thread & needles
  • scissors
  • embroidery hoop
  • if you don't have an embroidery hoop then you can make your own!
  • stiff felt or fabric to embroider on
  • pencil for drawing design or bring a picture to use

This is a monthly online space in which to gather and make art together, hosted by Jessica Canard. During the first part of each meeting, Canard will share different techniques in the month’s featured medium. You can follow along and try them out or work on your own projects. Then the group will take turns sharing experiences related to that medium, talking about our art practices, and showing each other what we have made or are making. The medium being explored and a materials list will be posted in advance, but you can create with whatever you want during Art Jam. This is a time to visit and make stuff together. To receive a link, email jessica@mawa.ca.
