Francesca Carella Arfinengo delivers a First Friday Lecture, December, 2018
Lectures at MAWA focus on a variety of topics of interest to women and gender minority visual artists. They are presented by artists, curators, academics, critics and others in the cultural sector. These guests speak to the MAWA community about their personal art practices, topical art issues, art theory or art history, encouraging rigorous art engagement and discourse.
Everyone is welcome to attend these free lectures on art, art theory and criticism held on the first Friday of each month at noon CST. Online broadcasts will feature ASL translation, and within a couple of weeks of broadcast, the First Friday Lectures will be available with captioning and ASL at mawa.ca/videos/lectures.
The Wendy Wersch Memorial Lecture Series is an annual event celebrating the memory of Winnipeg artist Wendy Wersch. The lecture series builds awareness of feminist art criticism, activism and practice.
