Suryara Bernardi

Suryara Bernardi experiments with the mechanics of the book, folding, binding and printing her own material. During this residency she will create a compendium of all the things she felt during the past few years: living under Bolsonaro’s government, the pandemic and moving abroad.

Bernardi is a Brazilian artist and illustrator based in Belgium who has a degree in Graphic Design and a Master’s in Fine Arts. She has been dedicated to illustration since 2010, creating images for books, magazines and newspapers, as well as backgrounds for animation. She also researches independent publications, bookbinding, paper toys and authorial writing.
