Cross-Cultural Beading Group January 25 Meeting

This upcoming Cross Cultural Beading group will be a special workshop with Becca Taylor on making Huichol medallions for a fully beaded art installation. Participants will have a chance to learn how to make a Huichol Beaded Medallions. Becca will provide a written tutorial with images for the participants to easily follow along with. Each of the Participants will be able to pick their own colors of beads, to express their own creative individuality. The finished medallions will be incorporated into the larger beaded installation, about the lineages of women and the communities they built around craft and expression. We hope you can make it!

  • Becca Taylor is a multi-disciplinary artist and curator of Cree, Scottish and Irish decent who holds a BFA from the Alberta College of Art and Design. Her practice involves investigations of Indigenous community-building and Indigenous feminisms through various mediums including textiles, beading and installations. She is currently Aboriginal Curator in Residence at Urban Shaman Contemporary Aboriginal Art Gallery.
