- 6:30pm – 8:00pm
- Zoom
The Desire Change Reading Group will be online on April 14, to discuss Chapter 14 as originally scheduled. The meeting will take place via Zoom, a video conferencing program. All former and current group members will receive an e invite with a link to the meeting. It is recommend that you pre-download the program, so that on April 14 at 6:30, you will be ready to go! These are difficult days, when so much about the future is up in the air. As we try to imagine moving forward through this pandemic, perhaps it is a good time to discuss “A Speculative Manifesto for Feminist Art”.
Explore Desire Change: Contemporary Feminist Art in Canada, the first book about feminist visual art in Canada, co-published by MAWA and McGill-Queen’s University Press, at a monthly reading group. Each session, participants delve into a chapter with facilitator, Helga Jakobson.
In advance of the April meeting, read Chapter 14, “A Speculative Manifesto for the Feminist Art Fair International: An Interview with Allyson Mitchell and Deirdre Logue of the Feminist Art Gallery" with Amber Christensen, Lauren Fournier, and Daniella Sanader
Helga Jakobson received an MFA from AKV St. Joost (The Netherlands) in conjunction with courses in the Transdisciplinary New Media program at the Paris College of Art (France). Jakobson has participated in residencies across Canada and Europe and has given lectures across Europe, Colombia and Canada.
All former and current group members welcome. You will receive an e invite with a link to the meeting from group leader Helga Jakobson.
