Explore Desire Change: Contemporary Feminist Art in Canada, the first book about feminist visual art in Canada, co-published by MAWA and McGill-Queen’s University Press, at a monthly reading group. Each session, participants delve into a chapter with facilitator, Helga Jakobson.
In advance of the September meeting, read Chapter 8, “All That Is Canadian: Identity and Belonging in the Video and Performance Artwork of Camille Turner.”
Copies of the book are available at MAWA for $45, or through the Winnipeg Public Library.
Helga Jakobson received an MFA from AKV St. Joost (The Netherlands) in conjunction with courses in the Transdisciplinary New Media program at the Paris College of Art (France). Jakobson has participated in residencies across Canada and Europe and has given lectures across Europe, Colombia and Canada.
