Dynamic Duos: Women and Mentorship
Sarah Crawley and Jaime Black
Over the past three decades, Mentoring Artists for Women’s Art (MAWA) has built a thriving, intergenerational community devoted to shared knowledge and resources. Largely, this has been achieved through mentorship. Established women artists share experiences, skills, networks and know-how with developing artists. This model of art education has proven to be nothing short of transformative, and many artists credit MAWA with being pivotal in their professional practices. In 2010, photo-based artist Sarah Crawley mentored interdisciplinary artist Jaime Black in MAWA’s year-long Foundation Mentorship Program.
