Through the lens of critical race feminism, Sabrina Sethi will present her research on the use of storytelling and personal narratives in the work of diasporic Asian women artists to counter hegemonic representations of Canadian culture and history. She will investigate the relationships between identity and place, and how location, geography and family stories impact identity and belonging. Her interest stems from her experiences navigating identity as a mixed-race South Asian/Scottish Canadian growing up as the child of immigrants in the Canadian Prairies.

Sabrina Sethi is an emerging writer and curator. She has recently returned to academia to pursue her MA in Cultural Studies, Curatorial Stream, focussing on concepts of belonging and Othering in Western culture, and exploring how cultural production within diaspora groups in the West is consumed, presented and critiqued.
