This will be an exploratory, hands-on workshop. Learn the step-by-step process of dyeing textiles using botanicals that you can grow in your backyard, including marigolds, coreopsis, cosmos and scabiosa. With flowers and experience, everyone can create tinta (colour/dye). No green thumb is required and a new hobby is guaranteed!
Lourdes Still is a flower grower, natural dyer and experiential tourism guide from close to La Broquerie, Manitoba. She grows seasonal blooms, specializing in plants and flowers that can be used as natural dye sources. The farm, Masagana Flower Farm & Studio, is seasonal, but her floral-dyed projects are year-round. She believes that growing joy (through flowers) and making magic (through dye plants) is right at our fingertips, and our gardens present opportunities to respond positively to the climate emergency.
