Focussed Mentorships are three-month, three session programs in which a senior artist shares her / their experience with developing artists. Focussed Mentorships may be organized around a theme, formal concern or specific medium. They are designed as an intensive experience to help women and non-binary visual artists develop skills and define their decision-making philosophies, and to provide access to the information, resources and support they need to advance their studio practice.
In a Focussed Mentorship, the Mentor prepares information to share with the group related to the theme of the mentorship; this information might take the form of slide presentations, critical reading or demonstrations. The sessions often take the form of a group critique of the participants work.
