Indigenous Feminisms January Meeting

Indigenous Feminisms endeavours to be a space for critical dialogue related to Indigenous feminism, traditional knowledge and how it connects to Indigenous artistic practices. Be a part of the ongoing conversation and help shape the direction of this dynamic new group. Activities could include analysis of readings, gallery-going, critique, collaborative art projects, interventions and activism and will be determined by the participants.

At this meeting we will have Karine Duhamel share her experience working in the arts.

Of Anishinaabe and Métis héritage, Karine Duhamel is an experienced historian, researcher and consultant specializing in First Nations, Métis and Inuit histories and politics. As a curator at the National​ Canadian Museum for Human Rights, her work focuses on moving beyond consultation and towards meaningful collaboration and empowerment. She has a keen understanding and interest in the processes and dialogues surrounding reconciliation and reparation. A recognized educator at the elementary and university level, Karine has developed courses on Indigenous-statements relationships, on the history of residential schools, and on Indigenous rights movements in Canada and in the United States.
