  • Mentoring Artists for Women's Art

From the orgasmic Anatomical Venus to the understanding of the female body as an inside-out male, this talk will look at how the medical realm has visualized (and under-represented) women throughout its entire history. Accompanied by a host of tantalizing, horrifying and hilarious medical images, Kinloch will dissect the perpetuation of an underlying sexism when it comes to the exploration, interpretation, and inculcation of gendered anatomy.

  • Alexis Kinloch is a Winnipeg-based writer, artist and arts administrator. She is the founder of Also As Well Too Artist Book Library, a free and accessible space that celebrates, expands ideas around, and gives opportunities to people working with the artist book genre.
