Have you wondered how to incorporate your heritage into your art? How to contextualize your cultural identity? When to declare it? And how to prevent your pieces from being exoticized, misread or culturally appropriated? Join us with special guest Gurpreet Sehra on Thursday May 12, from 6:30-8pm at MAWA, to discuss how we can blend our cultures with our art.
Gurpreet Sehra is a multidisciplinary artist who works in traditional and non-traditional media: painting, printmaking and video. In her work, she is interested in exploring conceptions of gender, as related to Sikh-Punjabi diasporic communities.
Everyone welcome! Masks are required.
