Presented in partnership with Platform Centre for Photographic + Digital Art

Registration has closed for this workshop.

Solargraphy is a long-exposure pinhole photograph that captures the passage of the sun. In the first session, Brenda Stuart will explain the process, its history and the magic of how it works. She will then lead you in making and loading your own camera, and will provide tips for setting it up and taking it down. The cameras will be made from tall aluminum drink cans. Please bring one or two to the workshop, and/or other small light tight, weatherproof containers. All other materials will be provided.

October 30, 2022 is the first session of the workshop. The second session will take place on April 22, 2023. The second session will be the “reveal” where folks will scan, digitally process and share their latent image. Further detail will be provided to participants closer to that date.

One image per participant will be displayed at MAWA from April 28 (to coincide with world pinhole day on April 30) to May 26, 2023.

$75 materials fee includes one 8” x 10” print.
