Heidi Eigenkind is a self-taught feminist artist whose fascination with embroidery started in the early 1970s, when she took two crewel embroidery courses from Leonida Leatherdale, an accomplished Winnipeg embroiderer and teacher. She is interested in issues of female identity and sexuality, gender, and the nature of cultural and individual memory.
