With this exhibition, the Like Queer Animals (LQA) collaborative team of artist Jessie Mott and writer and queer scholar Chantal Nadeau hone their commitment to shaping queer feelings as defiant and proud postures.
Their gender-fluid and species-bending creatures roam public spaces filled with racial, gender, and sexual divides. With their multiple sets of eyes, colourful hybrid bodies, and wild emotional scales, the creatures provide alternatives to occupy, mark, and reshape the heteroscape. With ludic embodiments, their creatures stand tall to historical and social forms of adversity. Each tells the story of another: imagined, real or failed, while connecting with one another in sensuous moments of solidarity.
The exhibition will include recent works on paper, screen prints on fabric and audio.
Free, everyone welcome!
