Administration and Communications Coordinator
Mentoring Artists for Women’s Art (MAWA)
22 hours per week, Wednesday-Friday, and some evening and weekend programs
$18/hour + benefits + 3 weeks vacation/year
MAWA seeks an Administration and Communications Coordinator who will be responsible for membership services, publicity of all programs, volunteer coordination, documentation of key programs, apartment and space rentals, and fundraiser administration.
Tasks will include: processing memberships, processing donations, maintaining databases, coordinating fundraiser data, updating the MAWA website and social media, publicizing programs, coordinating newsletter distribution, documenting key lectures, invoicing, and managing workshop enrollment. In many cases, the Administration and Communications Coordinator will be the first contact between the public and MAWA: the welcoming face of MAWA.
The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, and able to work and problem-solve independently. They will have a strong knowledge of the local visual arts community, strong written communication skills, and strong people skills. It is important that they have experience working in an artist-run centre and pre-existing knowledge of MAWA.
MAWA is a team, and the successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively. The Administration and Communications Coordinator works closely with the MAWA Program Coordinator.
This position requires extensive knowledge of and experience with databases and Excel, facility with Mac and PC computers, understanding of website maintenance, and basic knowledge of Photoshop, Premiere or similar programs.
MAWA is an artist-run not-for-profit organization dedicated to encouraging and supporting the intellectual and creative development of women in the visual arts by providing an ongoing forum for education and critical dialogue. Founded in 1985, MAWA currently has over 250 members. MAWA provides mentorships, workshops, lectures, artist talks, reading groups and informal networking opportunities to the visual arts community at large. Staff is comprised of two half-time Executive Directors, one half-time Program Coordinator and one half-time Administration and Communications Coordinator. MAWA is wheelchair accessible.

Program Coordinator
Mentoring Artists for Women’s Art (MAWA)

MAWA seeks a Program Coordinator who will be responsible for the implementation, administration and coordination of most aspects of MAWA programming, as well as fundraising coordination, volunteer management and outreach.
The Program Coordinator will be responsible for leading the Foundation Mentorship Program (organization and facilitation), leading Crit Club, coordinating the Artist in Residence Program and coordinating the delivery of all other programs. The Program Coordinator will also work with groups who operate through MAWA, liaise with partnering organizations, participate in relevant MAWA committees and coordinate volunteers. In many cases, the Program Coordinator will be the first contact between the public and MAWA: the welcoming face of MAWA.
The successful candidate will have strong leadership and facilitation skills, strong written and oral communication skills, strong time-management and organizational skills, and strong people skills. They must have extensive knowledge of the visual arts and engagement with the local visual arts community. It is important that they have experience working in an artist-run centre and pre-existing knowledge of MAWA.
At MAWA, the ability to organize one’s tasks and problem-solve independently is essential. However, MAWA is very much a team, so the successful candidate must also work collaboratively. The Program Coordinator will evaluate programs and meet with the Executive Directors to discuss potential innovations. The Program Coordinator also works closely with the Administration and Communications Coordinator, who is responsible for publicity and member services.
This position requires knowledge of Mac computer systems and Excel.
