Sonja Lofgren-Birch (Stockholm)

Sonia Lofgren-Birch’s work explores perceptions of place and belonging. She uses embroidered images to communicate moments and feelings in different locations. Recent work explores the distant and the familiar through landscape and seascape and moves between representation and abstraction. While in Winnipeg, she will examine the colours and shapes of the city and embroider fragments of surfaces and textures. She also looks forward to getting to know local artists (you!) and their work. Lofgren-Birch was born in Finland and currently lives in Sweden.
