From Within, an online exhibition by the Mîcêt Tipiskâwi-pîsimak Collective

Featuring artists: Frances Cooper, Annie Courchene, Tess Ray Houston, and Kristy Janvier, and artist mentor Lita Fontaine. From Within is a virtual art exhibit that will provide audiences with Indigenous personal art study from four artists, are Frances Cooper (Métis), Annie Courchene (Anishinaabe), Tess Ray Houston (Métis), and Kristy Janvier (Dene), all Manitobans, whose artwork reflects each personal artistic self-expression that using Land as the foundational base within their own creative processes. Each art piece will deliver Indigenous perspectives through dance, beadwork, photography, and environmental assemblages that reflect their connection with Land and “From Within”.

A discussion with the artists will be facilitated by Yvette Cenerini née Lagimodière) is a franco-Métis visual artist from Manitoba who lives and works in Winnipeg. Having obtained both a BEd (2001) and a BFA (2010), knowledge-sharing in the forms of teaching, mentoring, cultural mediation and community engagement is important in her practice.
