The past few months have been full of uncertainty and upheaval at MAWA. As you may know, a fire in the building that housed our office and programming space on Main street forced us to make an unexpected and expensive move.
Despite the suddenness of our relocation, we are thrilled about our new space at 329 Cumberland Ave, Suite 203. It's going to be a wonderful home for MAWA and a fantastic venue for our Over the Top Art Auction. We can't wait to fill it up with art donated by supporters like you!
Over the Top is MAWA's most important fundraiser of the year, accounting for up to 12% of our budget. It directly supports our mentorship programs, educational tools, workshops, lectures, discussion groups and more.
For those who donate it is an opportunity to be a part of Winnipeg’s largest group show of the year. Often more than 180 artists, emerging and established, participate. Hundreds of people, including collectors, curators, art lovers and fellow artists come to the auction to view and bid on the artwork!
If you choose to donate, you can allocate 100%, 75% or 50% of the sale of your piece to MAWA, and keep the balance. MAWA will issue you a tax receipt equal to the percentage you donate. Each artist sets a minimum bid, of any amount $50 and up, to help ensure that the work is auctioned for an appropriate value. You will also receive a free ticket to the event.
